i'm looking at your buttons

You may have noticed something different on the side of my blog . . . or you didn't.  Either way, let me start at the beginning.

When I first started this blogging thing five months ago, it was on a whim.  I knew nothing about blogging.  In fact, at one point two years ago when all my friends were starting blogs to share their deep thoughts with the world (or their ten closest friends), I actually made an oath that I would never start a blog.  So naturally, two years later I started a blog.

Then when I started my own blog in January, I made an oath that this blog was just for me.  I wouldn't care if other people read it, and I certainly wasn't going to get sucked into any other blogs.   So naturally, now five months later every time I get a new follower who does read my little blog I do a happy dance, and I have a mile-long list of blogs I read devotedly.

Then a month ago when I started noticing that many of the blogs I read talked about "grabbing a button" . . . well, first I thought, "How am I supposed to sew a little round button onto my computer screen?" . . . then after I figured out that buttons were a way of promoting and linking blogs together and most of them aren't even round, I made an oath that I certainly would never have a button.  So (you can tell where this is going by now) naturally, this past Friday I made and posted a button.  It's not pretty or polished or professional looking . . . but it's my button nonetheless.  A button only a mother could love I guess.

Don't worry.  I'm not delusional.  I don't actually believe that a random little button from a random little blog will actually find its way onto any other blogs, but it was a super fun challenge to figure out how to make one . . . a techie craft.

So that brings me to a feature post that I'm going to start tomorrow . . . Monday's Buttons.  I've found so many cute and creative buttons on other people's blogs.  Some of these buttons are on blogs that have five followers and some on blogs with 500 followers.  On Mondays, I'm going to do a short post featuring some of my favorite buttons.  I've found some great one's so far, and I'm going to be looking at yours too.

Craft on!

  7. Your button is very cute, and the best part is that you created it all by yourself.

I love my little button too, it's not professional looking but I love it. I spent hours creating it but I learned a lot. Can't wait to see your Monday's Buttons.

I cherish each comment! However, I can't respond to each comment anymore . . . I want to, but it's just not possible.

I will ALWAYS reply to a question though if your blogger account is set up to allow e-mail responses. If you ask a question and do not get a reply from me, it is because you are a no-reply blogger. Your best bet at a response then is to e-mail me directly.
