stay tuned . . . pillow buddy update

***
My mom used to sing this little ditty while I was waiting for her to make my mac 'n' cheese which seemed like it took way longer than the 10 minutes the box claims it takes:

Be patient.  Be patient.
Don't be in such a hurry.
When you get impatient, you only start to worry.  Remember, remember that God is patient too.
Just think of all the times when others have to wait for you.

A few of you have been asking me when I will be posting the pillow buddy tutorial.  Maybe there are others out there who are wondering but don't want to ask. So here's the update . . .

I am working on the tutorial.  I promise.  My problem is that I'm impatient . . . maybe even more impatient than when I was at the age of five waiting for my mac 'n' cheese.  I don't want to sit down and type out a tutorial when my brain is swimming with ideas for my recent t-shirt refashion fixation.  I'm working on the tutorial a little bit each night, and I hope to have it up and ready for your viewing pleasure as early as next Monday and as late as next Friday.

Here's the preview of what's to come:

Hmmm . . . what's missing here?

Obviously, I still have an issue with the kitty pillow buddy.  I have tried six or seven different eye options, and none of them are exactly what I want.  Any ideas?

Craft on!

  1. Love them! My girls would be squealing with delight if they saw them! Did you try buttons for eyes? Not very creative but it's late and it's all I can come up with!

  2. I agree with maybe some button like green cat eyes with the cat like pupils...you know what I mean? They are soooo cute! My girls would go googoo over them!

  3. Do you know what my problem is in terms of patience and tutorials...taking the stinking pictures. Writing is easy but I detest the picture taking part.

  4. Oh wow. I know that song! When we were kids we had an old record called Music Machine. There was a snail that sang that song!

The pillow buddies are adorable! If the buttons don't work, maybe some felt would. Black felt half ovals for the outer part, white circles and small green circles?

Can't wait to see the tutorial!

  5. My mom made all of us kids animal blankets--shaped blankets with stuffed animal heads--and she used marble-type eyes like these on Amazon. They look great and they won't come off easily -- both of my cat's eyes are still firmly attached 10+ years later.

I really like the texture of the kitty fur--so cuddly! I must have been laughing too hard at the upside down head before to appreciate the material. :) Good luck with your tutorial!

  7. I love the pets!
That song is from the Musicland Christian video series I used to watch when I was little and I sing this to my kids ALL the time!

  8. Big brown felt eyes with a small circle of white and a black dot in each corner. If they wear off no child should choke on them like they might on a button. The kitty is looking really cute. :-)

So if you have entered into anything I actually need you to zoom back and re-comment. If you havent entered into any of them, what are you waiting for? Get your butt over there!! HA!
Site is under construction so please be patient.

  12. Hi! I'm visiting from New Friend Friday w/ The Girl Creative & Trendy Treehouse! I can relate to you very much in that a couple of months ago I began cooking in the hopes to become a better cook even though I have no idea what I'm doing. I can't wait to take a look around your blog. These pillows are adorable! I admire that you are becoming so talented. I don't own a sewing machine, but maybe someday! :)

  13. These are sooo cute! Even without eyes.;) I think they'd make great gifts for my nieces this summer. And I love that swirly minky fabric. Looking forward to the tutorial!

  14. Well, if you can't figure out the eyes, what about just eyelashes and closed eyes? Just sew a stretched out u somewhere. You can test it with some thread first. Put in a few lashes with embroidery floss, either stitched in or made into a fringe.

I cherish each comment! However, I can't respond to each comment anymore . . . I want to, but it's just not possible.

I will ALWAYS reply to a question though if your blogger account is set up to allow e-mail responses. If you ask a question and do not get a reply from me, it is because you are a no-reply blogger. Your best bet at a response then is to e-mail me directly.
