movin' it monday: a top ten

Tops ten best things about moving

10. Listening to my husband laugh hysterically as he reads my old high school yearbooks found in a box in the basement.

9.  I found sheets and towels I didn't even know I had in the back of the linen closet.

8.  I may come up with the best cookbook ever called Cooking with Random Ingredients Left in Your Cupboards Before You Move . . . that title may be a bit cumbersome.  The cookbook will include a recipe that uses Progresso Soup, whole wheat noodles, frozen peas, chopped olives, canned mushrooms and American cheese slices.  (Yep, we had that for dinner tonight and my husband actually like it.)

7.  The junk drawer FINALLY gets cleaned out.

6.  Moving gives a big boost to the plastic garbage bag market  . . . you know, after making thirty some trips to our local donation center with a van filled to the brim with garbage bags stuffed with clothes, toys, towels, sheets, etc.

5.  Those size 6 jeans from my pre-baby days FINALLY get purged from my drawer.  No more guilt for not willing my hips to shrink back into the pre-labor and delivery days.

4.  I finally had to admit that I don't NEED eight mixing bowls.

3.  The Lazyboy chairs in my husband's "man cave" had to be sold because they won't fit in the new house.

2.  Purging, sorting, walking up and down the stairs carrying heavy stuff hundreds of times a day is a great workout.

1.  Moving makes me never want to move again.

What would you add to the list?

Craft on . . . because I'm not getting any crafing on!

This is hilarious! I HATE moving! mostly because I am so lazy! I think 8 mixing bowls is the perfect amount (in a perfect word where I cook!)

Great list!! :)
Though I might argue with the 8 mixing bowls thing. You know you're going to get in the new house and need just one more mixing bowl . . . ;)

I'm with Beverly -- are you SURE you don't need 8 mixing bowls?

Also, I would buy your cookbook. And cook from it regularly, moving or stationary. :)

Hahaha, I love it! And I'd buy the cookbook, too. :)

Best thing about moving...getting rid of all the stuff that you really don't need and finally can't justify taking with you. Hope things are going well!

oh la-la!! that's hard work!!
The best thing of moving is enter in a empty house and decide that you are going to keep it simple and you are not going to full it with furniture, ever...of course 10years later...
Best of luck!!

oh man - I can totally sympathize with you right now! I moved 2 days after Christmas this past year w/ my 3 kids - totally insane!!! It was so nice to purge though :) (especially in preparation for all the xmas gifts the kids received). After 3 moves over 18 months (in 3 different states) - I agree - I NEVER want to move again - lol! :) Good luck!!!!

Ha, seeing your crazy meal idea reminded me of my friend moving. We had a "condiment party". We each brought something to her house that would use up a condiment she had left in her fridge. Hope this week goes okay for you.

Thanks for writing this quality informational content. I appreciate your effort in this article. Yeah, I know after making thirty-some trips to our local donation center. Now it's time to get inbound call center for more information.
