it's here . . .

I'm so excited!

It's here!

What's here?

Well, thanks for asking!

The bassinet that I used to play with as a child has arrived . . . the one that my mom made me . . . the one that has inspired my fifth craft till Christmas.

I've been studying it a bit to figure out how on earth I'm going to make my own version.  If you are following along on Facebook, you know I started cutting yesterday.  It hasn't been pretty, and my husband has overheard me mumbling a few choice words to myself as I try to figure out how my mom made this #$%*@ thing.

But now that I'm all riled up, I can't let it beat me.  So I hope to have something to show you soon.

Craft on!

I made something similar (minus the hood) for my baby for Christmas last year. Hop on over and take a gander. I made it based on a photo I saw on MADE. The key ingredient for me was using plastic craft mesh stuff for stiffness. Good luck, and be sure you have your swear jar handy.

That's great that you have such a cool momento like that :)

My mom does all kinds of crafts but I never could get into it. I always admire those that do!

Stopping by from Trendy Treehouse.

Oh, it is very sweet. I looked at the photo before reading the words and thought you had figured it out already. :)

How fantastic that you have that treasure! My parents always bring me treasures when they visit. I wish I lived closer, I'd make you a pattern (I used to be a clothing designer).

I just stumbled on your site...honestly I can't even remember how I got here! I just wanted to say that I LOVE it and the idea behind it. I'm a new at sewing too, so i feel your growing pains!!! I'm going to follow you along and see how it goes with your challenge. BTW...thinking of doing something similiar. You've been an inspiration!

Ooh, I love it! So adorable. The one I had as a kid was more like just the bottom part, only shallower. So I dropped my babies a lot. ;)

I just found this (I just discovered that I have a 'reader' sheesh I'm behind the times). Anyway, it looks like your mom is an excellent sewer. My mom was too and she taught close to all I know. She passed before we got to zippers, lol. But that's precious. Save it forever.

I may not know much about crafts, but I do know this takes guts! Ambition! Dedication! Best of luck (from someone who literally cannot sew a button on anything).
ps - it's taken a while, but thank you for visiting my site!

Oh that's so pretty - you obviously looked after it because it looks brand new!

I shall await your trials and achievement eagerly as I reckon my youngest would LOVE one of these! (And I want to see how you did it! Lol!)
